Woodland Monthly Historical Tour

Enjoy a stroll through one of the oldest rural Cemeteries in the US. Visit the final resting place of the Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Erma Bombeck and many other famous Daytonians. Woodland Cemetery will be giving its famous Historical Tour on a monthly basis. Please meet at the administration office which is located at the main gate. Woodland Bird Walk

Woodland is the city's best place to watch birds. The lush greenery and many secluded spots make it an ideal location for birds to nest and lay their eggs. It is home to both native species and other birds that pass through during their migration. Join us for 2 hours of bird watching including area species such as the Carolina Wren, Black & White Warblers, Hawks, Cardinals and many more. Our nature guide Amanda Lawson will guide and discuss the many species of birds found at Woodland. A pair of binoculars and a cameras are all you need. Reservations are required.

Famous Women of Woodland

Meet some of Dayton's most interesting and exciting women in history. From homemaker to politician to famous author, Woodland honors them all. Reservations Required.

Sports Legends Tour

Get to know father & son basketball stars, race car drivers, rodeo riders, coaches and many more. Woodland's Sports Legend Tour is a legend in its own way. Reservations Required.

Mausoleum Tour

Let your eyes explore the beauty as you learn about Woodland's stained glass windows, Mosaic tiles and magnificent European marble located in the Woodland mausoleum. Reservations Required.

History Mystery, Mayhem & Murder

The newest tour at Woodland with new locations. A touch of new history and mystery including inventors, bank robbers, counterfeiting and murder. **Please take note that this is a very strenuous walk!** Reservations required, please contact 937-228-3221 or email: debra@woodlandcemetery.org.

Upper Loop Tour

One Hour tour starting & finishing at beautiful Lookout. Take a break, relax your mind & enjoy a stroll through Dayton's outdoor museum. Reservations Required.

Free Your Sole 5K/10K Walk/Run

Let's Talk Trees

Although Woodland is known for its Oaks, we will discover and discuss some of the most unique and common trees for the area. Take a brisk walk and get connected to the Arboretum at Woodland Cemetery. With our guide Kay Linden and the help of Mark Webber Landscaping, we have put together an interesting tour of some of Woodlands many trees. Reservations Required.

Woof Walk

Woodland and the Humane Society of Greater Dayton would like to invite you to one of our most attended events. The walk will be guided by Woodland Tour Guides and is for all socialable dogs and their owners. The walk is 1.1 miles long and includes the history of the famous and infamous people who are buried at Woodland. The event is free. We ask that you please clean up after your dogs. Registration for the event begins at 8:30AM or you may register in advance at the cemetery office at 118 Woodland Avenue or by phone at 228-3221.

The Humane Society will have dogs up for adoption, so take one for a walk and make a new friend.

Annual Woodland Photo Contest

Woodland Arboretum Foundation invites you to participate in our annual photo contest. We encourage all Woodland friends to visit and photograph the history and scenic Woodland Cemetery. Discover Woodland Days

Enjoy a beautiful stroll through one of the most historical Garden Cemeteries in the US and meet some of the famous and infamous people that have made Woodland Cemetery their final resting place. We will have volunteers portraying some of the most interesting people here at Woodland Cemetery. Come, look and listen as each volunteer dressed in character, tells you a little about themselves. From John Van Cleve who established the cemetery to The Wright Brothers who discovered flight and of course Erma Bombeck one of the most admired humorist writers of our day. Veterans Day/Flag Retirement Ceremony

We at Woodland would like to share our patriotism with you. We will be holding a special event designed to remember our veterans and retire our country's State & American Flags. Flags can be dropped off at our office throughout the year or you can bring them the day of the event. Come honor our country's colors. Group reservations contact 228-3221.

Holiday Rememberance Service

Woodland Cemetery will be hosting the annual Holiday Remembrance Service in the Mauseleum in honor of loved ones buried at Woodland Cemetery. We welcome all family and friends to attend. RSVP for Remembrance Service attendance to: Debra Mescher at 937-228-3221.

Annual Holiday Floral Display and Ornament Decorating

Guests are invited to decorate an ornament and place it on our Remembrance Tree. We will have ornaments and decorations available. We regret that we cannot be responsible for valuables. Ornaments can be retrieved until Jan. 03, 2016.
