Woodland dedicated the Lookout Columbarium in July, 2010 to better serve its cremation families. This development connects to the Lookout Plaza and Tower along the North exposure of the Lookout Point, and serves families who prefer earth burial. The Terrace Dedication Ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 10th at 11:0am. All are welcome to attend. One of the design objectives was to assure that it blended perfectly with the Victorian style monuments and features adjoining the new development, so that 20 or 100 years from now, it would not be discernable as a “new” section, separate from the existing monumentation and design. Thus, three large features are incorporated into the design: Two large obelisks with eight graves each – two on each side; and a nine-foot granite Vase feature, also with two graves on each side. In addition, seven cremation bench lot estates were incorporated into the design along a 200 foot long walkway overlooking the city. Construction will commence this spring and completion is scheduled for July. Families wishing to inspect the design, visit the site and possibly reserve space should contact Ron White, Family Service Manager right away either by phone (937-222-1431) or by e-mail (ron@woodlandcemetery.org).

We are pleased to announce that the construction and landscaping of the new Lookout Columbarium and Plaza is now complete. The development consists of a cremation niche wall, a gathering plaza and a replica of the giant tower used in the 1800’s to watch for fires and view the valley. Lookout Niches are now for sale. A Dedication Ceremony was held on July 10, 2010 in which 200 “Letters to the Future” were submitted by Woodland families and friends and included in the Time Capsule that was built into one of the pillars. A granite plaque on the front of the pillar declares its opening in 2141, the 300th Anniversary of Woodland’s founding in 1841.
